Terms of Service
Last updated: 31 August 2026
1. What Freelance Sailors is
Freelance Sailors is a job listing platform for yacht crew and employers to post and browse crew positions. We are not a recruitment agency, crewing agency, or employment agency, and we are not a party to any employment, charter, or contractor relationship formed between members. We do not place crew, negotiate terms of employment, or guarantee the accuracy, legitimacy, or outcome of any job post or application.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use this service. By registering, you confirm this is true and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Membership and payment
Access to the job feed and job posting requires a paid membership (currently €25/year), billed as a recurring subscription via Stripe until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your Profile page — cancellation stops future renewals but does not automatically refund the current period.
If you are a consumer in the EU/UK, you may have a legal right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of first subscribing. If you'd like a refund within 14 days of your first payment, contact us and we will refund it, provided you have not made substantial use of the membership (e.g. posted jobs or contacted multiple listings).
4. Job posts and conduct
Job posts must describe genuine yacht crew positions and go live immediately after you post them. We may remove any post, at any time, for any reason, including suspected fraud, spam, or posts that aren't genuine job opportunities — the poster is shown the reason. Contact details you provide on your profile or in a job post (email, WhatsApp number) are visible to other paying members so they can apply directly — don't post contact details you don't want other members to see. Do not use contact information found on this platform for unrelated marketing, spam, or harassment.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. This includes harassment, threats, hate speech, sexual content, content promoting illegal activity, and fake or fraudulent listings. If you see a job post that violates this, use the Report button on that post in the Job Feed — this notifies our moderation team directly. You can also block another member from within the app so their posts stop appearing in your feed. We aim to review and act on reports — including removing content and banning offending accounts — within 24 hours.
5. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or ban an account that violates these terms, including for posting objectionable content or engaging in abusive behaviour towards other members — this can happen immediately and without warning. You can delete your own account at any time from your Profile page, which also cancels any active subscription and removes your job posts.
6. No warranty, limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is." We don't verify the identity, qualifications, or intentions of members, and we aren't responsible for the outcome of any job application, employment relationship, or dispute between members. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
7. Intellectual property
The Freelance Sailors name, logo, and the design, code, and text of this website and app (excluding content submitted by members) are owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or use our branding without our permission.
You keep ownership of any job post or other content you submit. By posting it, you grant us a licence to display it on the platform for as long as your account or post remains active.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
