Privacy Policy

1. What we collect
When you register: your name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text), and optionally a WhatsApp number. When you post a job, we store the job details and the contact method you provide (an email or WhatsApp number). Stripe collects and stores your payment details directly — we never see or store your card number.
2. How we use it
To run your account, show job listings, process your membership payment, email you about your account (e.g. password resets, payment receipts), and moderate job posts.
3. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Freelance Sailors: Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Neon (database hosting), and Vercel (website hosting). Each processes data on our behalf under their own privacy/data-processing terms. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Visible to other members: the contact details you put on your profile or in a job post (email or WhatsApp number) are shown to other paying members so they can apply directly to your listing, or so you can apply to theirs.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data and job posts, except where we're required to keep billing records for tax or legal reasons.
5. Your rights
If GDPR or similar law applies to you, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your own account and data at any time from your Profile page, or email us to request any of the above.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use your session cookie to keep you signed in, and a small piece of local browser storage to remember which job posts you've already seen. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Children
This service is intended for users 18 and older.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will change the date above when we do.
